Alric C.H. Tang

Having received the Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B.) and the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) from the University of Hong Kong respectively, Alric was admitted to practise as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2007.

Whilst maintaining a general practice, Alric is principally a litigator (both civil and criminal) with a strong focus on property litigation (e.g. adverse possession, easement by prescription, New Territories land disputes involving Chinese customary law, and title disputes and contentious matters arising out of conveyancing transactions). He has represented clients in courts at all levels: (1) as advocate in various interlocutory applications (including chambers hearings at the Court of Appeal), committal proceedings in open court, hearings before probate master for non-contentious probate matters, hearings for appointment of a committee of estate under the Mental Health Ordinance (Cap. 136), divorce proceedings, pleas in mitigation in magistrates’ courts and conducting disciplinary actions before statutory bodies; and (2) as instructing solicitor in trials involving sexual offences. He is also a Civil Celebrant of Marriages.

Alric has rendered public services in Hong Kong, serving statutory committees and working as legal advisor for an NGO. He was a Member of the Child Fatality Review Panel between 2016 and 2022, and has been a member of the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Social Workers Registration Board since 2017, and the Legal Advisor of the Council of the Queen Elizabeth Foundation for the Mentally Handicapped since 2018. In 2019 and 2020, Alric was appointed by the Chief Executive as a member of the Appeal Panel (Housing) and an adjudicator of the Registration of Persons Tribunal respectively. Currently, Alric is the Honorary Legal Advisor of SAHK and a Council Member thereof, and is a School Manager of SAHK B M Kotewall Memorial School. Apart from the foregoing, Alric gave law talks from time to time, including being a co-speaker in a seminar held under the CPD Scheme of Estate Agents Authority (on the purchase of village houses) and a speaker in a talk held by Sai Cho Wan Lutheran Centre for the Elderly (on will making).
